Kiwanis Summer Tutoring Program – Vacaville & Virtual

The Kiwanis Summer Tutoring Program (KSTP), originally launched as the COVID Catch-Up Tutoring Program (CCTP) in 2022, was created to bridge the academic gaps experienced by students due to the pandemic. Since then, KSTP has evolved to provide sustained educational support to young learners in Solano County, thanks to the dedication and enthusiasm of our volunteers, students, and families.

In its first year, our program served 200 students, pairing them with 65 volunteer tutors who generously gave their time and skills to help these students regain confidence in their studies. By our second year, the program expanded to reach 222 students with the support of 70 volunteer tutors. This 2024 year, our program connected 116 students with 97 volunteers, allowing us to focus even more on personalized support, helping each student build a strong foundation for academic success.

Over the course of each 5-8 week session, our tutoring program offered both virtual and in-person sessions to ensure accessibility for students from grades K-5. Each student received support in a variety of subjects, including Spelling, Writing, Mathematics, and even Individualized Education Program (IEP) support. This free program provided more than just academic growth; it offered a safe, engaging space where students could experience the joy of learning and develop confidence in their abilities.

With locations spread across Solano County, the program was designed to be accessible to families throughout the area, making it possible for every student to find academic support close to home. This effort has not only benefited students but also empowered our community of volunteers who continually inspire us with their commitment to service and educational growth.
